What is vitamin B2?
A clever chemist lived in England. He was busy isolating the components in cow's milk. It was not the easiest job he had ever done, but after much effort he succeeded. He managed to isolate the water-soluble material from the cow's milk. He was amazed by what he saw. Even though cow's milk is very white, the isolated substance was as yellow as egg yolk. This was the first time that anyone had seen a pure form of vitamine B2, also Riboflavin.
What is vitamine B2
Since vitamine B2 part is of the B vitamin complex, this vitamin contributes to your energy level. This is in a different way to vitamin B1. Vitamin B2 plays an important role in releasing the energy from the food you eat. Apart from letting the food you eat do its work, namely giving you energy, vitamin B2 has many more special effects for you skin, hair and nails. It is also important to remain fertile , it helps in the formation of red cells and supports you immune system. All in all, one of the most important vitamins.

In what foods can vitamin B2 be found? Like the other B vitamins it is mainly found in cereal products, milk, meat and vegetables. Unfortunately, a significant deficiency of vitamin B2 is still regularly occurring, whereas vitamine B1 is much less so. Do you have complaints such as rashes on your skin, mouth and/ortongue? Then vitamin B2 deficiency is a possible cause. It is recommended to get at least 1,6 mg of vitamine B2. Fortunately, you cannot ingest too much of it. You simply pass it out again. So make sure you get enough vitamin B2 for a healthy skin and enough energy to get the best out of yourself.
